Everyone knows that my cats and freshly dug garden spaces don’t mix. Not even a little. As much as I love my three furry monsters, I can’t stand it when they decide to do their business on my freshly planted out lobelia. Just makes my blood boil.
So, after looking at the garden plan again and looking at my ‘in desperate need of planting out’ herbs I decided that I would have to take a different approach to the back garden space. Armed with some bamboo, netting and garden wire I set to work on making the herb garden more of a herb garden and less of a cat crapping ground.
This is the end result:
Now, is this a tried and tested method? I’m not sure.
Will it work? I don’t know. But surely it’s worth a try? I shall be on regular poo watch.
For anyone interested in what is planted out in the herb patch so far, I have: Thyme (Archers Gold & Creeping Red), Rosemary, Coriander, Dill, Sage, Fennel, Oregano and Parsley (I think), although there might be more.
How many of you have similar problems with cats and how do you stop them turning your garden space into toilets?
Today I put the Samsung to the test. It took me a good 20 minutes to figure out each setting again, but I think I’m there. Now, these are not 10 mega pixel quality, but hopefully the 5.1 mega pixel has captured my beautiful greens as my eyes did this morning.
Last years Strawberries, starting to flower!
How beautiful please??
Cucumber babies, still growing strong.
….. And finally, my Forget-Me-Nots…… The ones that I forgot all about! Now pride of place by my front door. 😀
Because of the problem I’m having with windowsill space and the fact that we have two little monsters and 3 moggies, and that’s 4 hands and 12 paws, I decided to go take some of my seedlings to my Mums and store them in her mini-greenhouse (the one I originally bought and then gave to her when hubby bought me the 6×4 plastic one). So you might not see me update on their progress for a little while, but she does only live a few doors away, so I should hopefully be able to snap some progress pics.
I’ve got lots of re-potting to do today: Coriander, Chilli Pepper, Dill, Chives, Thyme, Cauliflower and Cabbage….. I won’t mention it to hubby though. I think he’s a little worried I’m bringing the “green”house indoors. It’s only really until my new greenhouse gets delivered.
Another Sunflower got re-homed yesterday. I think that leaves about 20-odd remaining. Jessica has talked me into keeping 9 now and I’m thinking they’re gonna love it at the back of our garden, against the back fence. When we get back from our holiday I’m going to get some more of the turquoise fence paint and freshen it up a bit.
It’s raining outside, the heating is on and I’m enjoying a nice cuppa tea in the kitchen whilst the kids play upstairs. Life couldn’t get much better.
Oh and happy 1st unnofficial anniversary hubby! – A few days late, but still 🙂
